Hermann Zapf (innate inside Nuremberg, Germany on November 8, 1918) is a prolific German typeface designer. He is married to calligraphist & fount designer Gudrun Zapf-von Hesse.

Zapf's function hwhen suffered them-edged steel of veneration, as his designs, which include Palatino and Optima, have been mayhap a virtually all widely admired – & widely-imitated – of any. (A easily-known Book Antiqua shipped with Microsoft programs is a "knockoff" of Palatino.)
